Arkansas will officially introduce John L. Smith as its head coach for the 2012 season at a 2 p.m. local time press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Ahead of that press conference, the man Smith will be replacing has added his two copper Lincolns on the development.

In a statement released through his agent to local media outlets Monday night, Bobby Petrino applauded the move made by his former school, noting Smith’s previous experience as a head coach that gave his former assistant — and former boss — an edge over what the deposed UA head coach described as “several outstanding internal candidates”.
