Welker expected to receive Franchise Tag from Pats.

To me this ia a no brainer.  Since arriving from Miami, Welker had amasses reception totals 112, 111, 123, 86, 122 from the 2007 to the 2011 season respectively. Welker is the on WR in NFL history to gave 3 consecutive 110+ reception seasons. Not bad for an undrafted player from Texas Tech.  The only year he did not surpass 100 catched, while in New England was in 2010 and that the year that Randy Moss basically mailed it in and was traded to the Vikings, the subsequently released and landed in Tennessee. With more returning for a one year hiatus from the league, it’s tough to say he will be anywhere near what he was before for the Patriots.  Moss is a free agent and if any could gauge if he had any gas in the tank it would be Bill Bellichick.  If Moss doesn’t catch on in New England it could truly be the end of his hall of fame career and not bode so well for an aging Welker who needs that deep threat to stretch the field so he can run those underneath route.  Keep your eye on the likes of big statured receivers suchs as Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, or Plaxico Burress to land in Foxboro if the Pats opt not to bring Moss back.
